Ingredients & Substitutions for Biscoff French Toast Bites
Bread- I use a low calorie white bread , but any bread will work
Biscoff Spread- Smooth biscoff spread works best
Egg- for the french toast custard
Protein Powder- I use a vegan based protein from MacroMike, use my code amb-eliyaeats to save 10% (I am a proud MacroMike Ambassador!) The flavour I use in this particular recipe is Caramelised Biscuit
Almond milk- any milk will work
Cinnamon- for flavour
Granulated Sweetener– I use a zero calorie sweetener Natvia, but it is totally optional, the french toast will be quite sweet from the protein & biscoff You could use any sweetener including maple syrup or honey
Tips
- Multiple Serves:just multiply the recipe by the number of serves you would like to make
- Soak the bread: Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture for at least 30 seconds on each side. This will ensure that the bread is fully coated and results in a moist and tender French toast
- Cook on medium heat: Cook the French toast on medium heat to ensure that it is cooked evenly and doesn’t burn. If the heat is too high, the outside of the toast will cook too quickly while the inside remains raw
- Use oil spray: Use oil spray to lightly grease the pan, you could even use butter for a richer flavour
- Serve immediately: French toast is best served immediately after cooking while it’s still warm and crispy
How to store
- Fridge: Place in an airtight container and store for up to 3-5 days – to reheat, microwave for 45-60 seconds of pan fry on low heat till heated through
- Freeze: let the bites cool slightly and transfer to a freezer bag for easy storage for up to 3 months – to reheat, preheat oven to 350°F (180˚C) and bake for 10-15 minutes until heated through. OR transfer to a plate and microwave 45-60 seconds.
