Ingredients and Substitutions for Protein Mars Bar Slice
Soy Protein Crisps– Literally has the same texture as rice bubbles but its so high in protein! You can substitute this for equal parts rice bubbles. I use this brand from Coles, however for my American readers, I’ve found this brand on Amazon.
Protein Powder- I use the Deluxe Chocolate Protein from MacroMike. My affiliate code for Macromike is AMB-ELIYEATS (saves you 10%!). Can use whey or any other flavours
Light Butter- can use oil or normal butter
Mini Mars Bars- I would not recommend subbing or omitting as this keeps the mars bar flavour. Only 3 mini mars bars are used in this entire recipe.
Maple Syrup– I use sugar free, but any wet sweetener will work (e.g golden syrup, honey etc)
Chocolate- For the chocolate top, I use a sugar free milk chocolate but any chocolate will work
Coconut Oil- Helps the chocolate harden and keeps it shiny
Tips
Line the pan with parchment paper: This will prevent the treats from sticking to the pan and make it easier to remove them.
Melt the mars bar and butter together: over a bain marie or in the microwave in 30 second intervals
Allow it to set: Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and let it set for at least 30 minutes, or until firm. This will help the slice hold its shape when cut.
How to store Protein Mars Bar Slice
Refrigerator: Store in ziplock bags or an airtight container for up to 1 week
