Classic “Macca’s” Apple Pie - Rice Paper Edition

All the nostalgic McDonald’s apple pie flavour… but healthier, lighter, and higher in volume. These go super crispy in the airfryer and taste like warm cinnamon heaven.

Ingredients
  

Apple Filling:
  • 3 medium apples peeled & diced
  • 5 g light butter optional
  • 1-2 tbsp zero-calorie sugar alternative e.g golden Natvia
  • Cinnamon & nutmeg to taste
  • 50 ml water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
Coating + Wrapping:
  • 8 rice paper sheets
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk or water
  • Cinnamon sugar Natvia + cinnamon

Method
 

  1. Add butter, diced apples, sweetener, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a pan. Cook 4–5 minutes.
  2. Mix water and cornstarch, add to apples, and cook 1–2 more minutes until thickened. Cool completely.
  3. Mix eggs with milk/water and some cinnamon sugar.
  4. Dip 2 rice paper sheets into the mixture and stack them.
  5. Add apple filling and roll like a burrito, tucking in the sides.
  6. Repeat to make 4 pies. Sprinkle with extra cinnamon sugar (optional).
  7. Airfry at 200°C for 20 minutes OR bake at 200°C for 30–35 minutes, flipping at 20 minutes.
